USA Rallies Against Slovenia

There I was in a restuarant in the Salt Lake airport ready to head to South Africa with the USA losing to Slovenia 2-0 at half. There were about 4-5 other soccer fans cheering on team USA and we all thought that our country's world cup dreams were over. I was seriously depressed. We were about to get on a plane with tickets to see the 3rd 1st round USA game but it would be pretty pointless to watch if USA lost to Slovenia. Then two minutes into the second half Landon Donovan scored an AMAZING goal to make it 2-1! People walking by the restaurant were looking in wondering what all the excitment was about. As the second half continued more and more people lingered in the restaurant to witness the U.S. make the greatest comeback they have ever made. Michael Bradley evened the score in the 82nd minute and only nminutes after that Maurice Edu scored for team USA to give them a 3-2 lead!! But NOOOOOO, the idiot ref decided to make a ghost call and take away USA's winning goal!! We were all going crazy!! USA had a couple more oportunities but could not score a second winning goal and the game ended with a 2-2 tie.

As soon as the final whistle blew we had to rush to our gate to catch our plane. I was instantly calculating possible 3rd game results to see where the US stands on moving into the round of 16. Then while on our flight we saw the score update of England tying Algeria. This is great for the U.S.! Now all we have to do is win against Algeria and we are in. If we tie we could still make it in but England would have to lose or tie against Slovenia for us to have a chance. The bottom line is if we win, we are in!! The best part about it......I WILL BE AT THE GAME LIVE IN PRETORIA, SOUTH AFRICA!!!
